Staying Safe

At Norley CE Primary School we are committed to providing a friendly, caring and safe environment for all our pupils so that they can learn in a relaxed and secure environment. We believe every pupil should be able to participate in all activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm.

We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional abuse, neglect and bullying.

School policies are in place to ensure that there is a consistent approach to practices throughout the school and that they are adhered to by staff, governors, volunteers and visitors. All our policies are available on the policies page of our website.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a safeguarding programme used by schools, police, and local services to help support children who may have been affected by domestic abuse.

If the police attend a domestic abuse incident at a child’s home, they inform the child’s school before the next school day. This does not mean the child or family is in trouble. The purpose is simply to make sure the school knows the child may have had a difficult experience and can offer appropriate care and understanding.

The information shared is limited and confidential. It allows school staff to:

  • Be more aware of the child’s emotional needs

  • Offer reassurance or extra support if needed

  • Help the child feel safe and settled at school

Operation Encompass is about protecting children, not judging families, and ensuring schools are better prepared to support pupils’ wellbeing during challenging times.
