Extra curricular Activities
We are proud of our success in placing arts, sport and music at the heart of Norley School. We believe that experiencing and participating in the arts and sports plays a vital role in children’s personal, social, and academic development. By working closely with professional artists, the wider community, and sports coaches, we enrich and expand the breadth and range of artistic and sporting experiences available to our pupils.
After School Clubs
There is a wide offer of after chool clubs over the year. These include Science club, Film club, Mindfulness, Multipsorts, cricket, tennis, choir and drama club. Some clubs are run by staff and others involve local community groupsand professionals.
Partnerships
Our partnership with the church is an integral part of school life. Throughout the year, children across the school take part in special services, providing opportunities to share reflective readings, sing, play instruments, and dramatise events. Being in church is a particularly special and meaningful experience for the children. Our ethos group attend the communion service in Norley church every third Thursday. We also join with other schools to attend a bi-annual pilgrimage to Chester Cathedral. In addition, we take part in joint events with our parish schools, Kingsley St John’s and Crowton, including the Easter Journey and Christmas Experiences.
Music Lessons
The school makes individual and group music lessons available through the Music for Life organisation and via private tutors. Currently, children are learning to play a diverse range of instruments including, violin, guitar and piano along with singing. A highlight for children (and parents) is the opportunity to showcase their skills at our annual summer concert. We have a strong school choir who perform at school and community events. They regularly sing with Ashton Sings Choir.

Enrichment Days
We regularly hold whole-school days to reinforce the teaching of specific subjects, such as Maths Days, Wellbeing Days, and Topic Days. During these days, children move between different teachers to explore a range of aspects linked to the focus subject. We also invite visitors, such as the NSPCC and the Fun Food Chef, to support and enrich these learning experiences.
School Visitors
We enhance the diversity of children’s artistic experiences by inviting a wide range of artists and groups into school. This creates rich and varied cultural opportunities and enables children to engage directly and meaningfully with the arts. Past projects have included the creation of a bespoke wooden story chair for our main entrance and large-scale artwork for the school hall. We also host special events linked to World Book Day, such as poetry workshops with local poet and author Paul Delaney. In addition, we regularly welcome local authors and illustrators to work with every child in the school.
Forest School
During the year all classes will have a series of Forest School sessions. We have the most beautiful grounds and like to make the most of them.
Trips and Visits, including residential visits.
Each term, classes take part in an educational visit to enhance their topic work. Popular destinations include Chirk Castle, Manchester Airport, Liverpool World Museum, Style Mill, and London. Children in Classes 3 and 4 also enjoy a residential visit every other year. Currently, these visits include a stay at Tattenhall for outdoor pursuits and a visit to Llandudno to study a contrasting locality.
Drama productions
Two major events, which bring together all the year’s experiences in arts and music and demonstrates the school’s inclusive and supportive ethos, are the annual Christmas production and the summer music concert. Past productions have been rich and varied and have included those with a Christian theme. Every single pupil is directly involved in these productions with Year 6 children playing leading roles in narration and acting. This makes for unforgettable and enjoyable experiences for everyone with ‘standing room’ only performances in front of family and friends in the run up to Christmas.
