Weaver Words- We Have a Winner!
We Have a Winner!
Over 500 Budding Young Authors Enter the Great Weaver Words Children’s Writing Prize and one of our pupils came second.
More than 500 entries poured in for this year’s Great Weaver Words Children’s Writing Prize, showcasing the extraordinary creativity and storytelling talent of young writers from across the region. The competition, proudly sponsored by Rotary in Frodsham and Helsby, was a key feature of the Weaver Words Literature Festival.
Open to two age categories—under 11s and 11 to 16s—the prize invited original stories or poems on the theme “A Journey”. Entries arrived from schools, writing clubs, and individuals, all eager to share their imaginative responses to the theme.
The judging panel was hugely impressed by the volume and standard of submissions. Judges praised the entries as “inspiring” and said the young writers demonstrated “incredible talent and a true passion for storytelling.”
A special awards ceremony celebrated the winners and shortlisted entries—and we are thrilled to announce that one of our Year 6 pupils achieved second place! This is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work, creativity, and success.
