All about Class 2...
Our teacher: Mr Bennett
Plants, plants, plants!
As part of our minibeasts topic we have started to learn about plants in science. The children really enjoyed going out and finding lots of different plants to sketch and compare in their science books.
Sports relief walk
In class two we are so proud of Bertie who walked all the way to school (6 miles) to raise lots of money for Sports relief. The children came out to greet Bertie and celebrate in his fantastic achievement. Well done Bertie!
2D shape drawings
In our maths we have been learning about 2D shapes so we took the opportunity to take our learning outside the classroom. The children designed a picture using lots of different 2D shapes and then we went out onto the playground and drew them in chalk. The children learnt lots and had great fun!

Photo and Word Collage
In our weekly computing lessons we have been using a new App on the ipads called Pic Collage Kids. As part of our 'Frozen Lands' topic we have been learning all about polar bears so the children have been learning how to use all of the various functions to make some brilliant photo and word collages. As you can see they have done an ace job! Well done class 2.
The year 2 children have recently been on the fantastic Christmas journey in Frodsham. This annual event is always a highlight of the Christmas period and it is an exciting way for the children to learn the story of Christmas (as they actually take part in the story). The children enjoyed making Christmas gifts, singing songs, listening to and the story as well as meeting the characters.
A trip to space
As part of our 'Magical mystery tour' topic class two went on a trip to Spaceport! The journey to get there was just as exciting as the actual trip. We went on a coach to Liverpool and then took the ferry across the Mersey to get to spaceport. When we arrived we went through into air-locked area and blasted off into space where we went on a space ride and took part in an amazing rocket workshop. We had a brilliant day and even brought some rockets back to make in class!
A visit from First Officer Fonseca
We were very excited this week to welcome a real pilot into Class 2! As part of our topic on journeys and transport First Officer Fonseca came to give us an insight into the amazing life of a pilot. The children enjoyed asking all sorts of questions about what it is really like to fly an aeroplane and go super fast.
The Norley garden show
During the first week back in school we have been making clay snails for the Norley garden show. The children went through the whole design process before making and painting their own clay snail ready to be judged at the show.
William the Conqueror
In class two we have been learning all about the story of William the Conqueror and the history behind the Battle of Hastings. The children worked as groups to make some fantastic posters to show the key points in their learning.
Have you ever wondered how to catch a dragon? The children in Class 2 have been writing instructions on how they would catch a dragon. They have had lots of fun making dragon traps and learning all about the features of a good set of instructions.
