All about Class 1...
Our Teacher: Miss Williams
The Addition Machine Class 1 have been making their own addition machines to help them with their addition. The children were very excited to try them out!
Wonder Doll Class 1 came to school to find a package! Inside the package was Wonder Doll! She is a character from the book 'Toys in Space.' Class 1 are having lots of fun reading the story and completing Wonder Doll's tasks! She is causing lots of mischief too!
Gymnastics Class 1 have enjoyed their first gymnastics session with Charlie from Hartford School of Gymnastics
Happy New Year Happy New Year from Class 1!
Use your imagination! Class 1 have had lots of fun dressing up and creating their own stories using the new dressing up clothes and props. There have been superheroes, Santa and a dinosaur roaming around the outdoor area!
Pantomime Class 1 had a great time at the pantomime at The Brindley Theatre. This year it was Sleeping Beauty. Some of the children came back to school and did some fantastic writing all about the performance!
Christmas Jumper Day 2017 Class 1 enjoyed wearing their Christmas jumper's on Friday. The children learnt all about the importance of donating this money and how it will help less fortunate children.
Snow Sculptures In our forest school session this week the children took advantage of the snow and created some fabulous ice sculptures! The children worked together and there was lots of team discussion and problem solving. There was a variety of Volcanoes, Snakes, Lions, Igloos and more. Have a look at the pictures!
Welly Throwing This week in PE the children have been working on their throwing skills using their wellies! This activity was great fun and also incorporated counting and solving number problems!
Let it snow! As soon as class 1 saw the snow they went out for a run! It was such good fun but very cold! We came back inside for a warm and a snowy story.
Stay and play Thank you to all of the Class 1 parents that came to stay and play today. The children had a wonderful time and we hope you did too!
Shhh it's a secret! Class 1 have been working very hard on a special project this week. The children have been writing and designing a surprise for their parents.Keep an eye out in your post next week class 1 parents!
Forest Schools This week the children made their own rain gauges. The children decided where they would put the rain gauges in the outdoor environment. The children are excited to check on these each week and measure the rainfall.
Happy Birthday to Me! This week we have been thinking about our birthdays and comparing how we celebrates, how other children in this country and children around the world do. The children found this very interesting and carried this on in the continuous provision. The children made cards, bake cakes in the sand and even made birthday cakes with the Lego!
We're going on a baby hunt Production is well underway for the nativity play! The children will be performing 'We're going on a baby hunt.' The children are very excited to share this special story with you!
Forest Schools This week the children have been creating an environmental journal. The children have been exploring the school grounds with a fine tooth comb to spot changes that may be taking place during the autumn season.
Remembrance Day 2017 Class 1 looked at the poppies they had bought in school and discussed why we wear them. The children talked about the the donations made from the poppy sale and thought about where this money goes too. After this discussion some of the children decided to create their own poppies in a variety of ways.
Celebrations around the World
This half term the children are exploring a range of celebrations around the globe. This has stemmed from the children's interest in Halloween, Bonfire night and b Birthdays. We will be looking at a range of festivals in the build up to Christmas. Have a look at our planning to see what we will be doing in more detail...
Peckforton Castle Class 1 and 2 had a fantastic day at Peckforton Castle. The children had a tour around the castle and its grounds, finishing the day with a falconry display. Some of the children created a pic collage of their experience.
Forest Schools This week the children have been using their listening ears and working together with the parachute.
Frog Dance This half term class 1 have been thinking about our visitor- King Fred Frog. The children have been thinking about the life cycle of a frog and how they begin as a tadpole. The children thought about the different movements they would make throughout their transformation into a frog. The children put these movements into a sequence and created their own dance. What a fabulous result! Have a look below...
Forest Schools This week at Forest Schools the children have been using their imagination by creating their own adventure stories. Each animal group was given a character, setting and object to base their story on. The children worked together and produced some amazing stories! Have a listen below...
Magic wands Class 1 have been continuing their adventure with the frog prince.The children were instructed to make a magic wand to help create a spell to turn the frog back into a prince! The children used a stick as a wand, painting and decorating it with collage material and magic dust. Next up was a magic word to cast the spell. The children thought about rhyming words and chose 2 words that they liked. Last but not least was casting the spell. The children worked on their counting down from 20 skills to make sure the spell worked! Have a look at class 1 casting their spells!
Class 1 have been helping rescue a trapped frog in a magic castle. The children created some keys with clay which managed to free him for a little while..... However the frog needed help again! The children needed to help the frog become invisible so he could creep past the bossy witches. The children had a plan! They created some magic potions working on their capacity skills. The children explored lots of different sized potions, some were full, nearly full, half full and nearly empty. Fingers crossed the potions work!
Forest schools Class 1 have been spending time outside of the classroom with class 2 each week. So far the children have been busy going on senses walks, identifying leaves and trees and creating natural art work.
Skipping workshop Class 1 took part in a skipping workshop. The children built on their jumping and balancing skills, learning techniques to support their skipping.
Batman Day Class 1 celebrated National Batman Day by having their very own Batman day. The children arrived to find a video from Batman himself! The children made their own Batman cape and mask. The children then took part in a series of Batman training exercises including, sorting and reading a sentence, ordering Batman numbers and rescuing the dolls from the adventure playground. It was great fun!
A Magic Key
Once the children had written their letters to the frog he responded with a story for them to share. The story Castle Adventure was all about the frog and how he was locked up in a castle. The children got to work making some magic keys to free the frog. The children used their imagination and fine manipulative skills to roll and shape the clay. They also considered the shape of the clay which linked to 2d shape. The children decided the key should be a circle, rectangle and triangle shape. Let's hope the keys work! Watch this space!
King of the Frogs After a long time investigating class 1 found out who had been leaving the footprints.... a frog! His name is Fred and he needed the children's help. The children set off to write him a letter! Have a look at our fantastic writing after 3 weeks in school!
Let's investigate! Class 1 have come into school to find some mysterious footprints. The children got to work and became investigators deciding who may have left the footprints. The prints are very small so the children think it must be a frog due to the shape of the prints. Watch this space to find out more!
Roald Dahl Day 2017
Class 1 have enjoyed learning lots of interesting facts about Roald Dahl. We decided to give him a yellow make over because that is his favourite colour. He now looks as wacky as some of the characters in his books!
The rain can't stop our fun! The weather has been so wet and windy this week that class 1 decided to take some action. They worked together to build a 'rain tent.' The children problem solved as a group and looked where each pole needed to go. They used their physical skills to thread and piece together the frame. This has kept them nice and dry and allowed them to go out and observed the exciting weather!
First Week Fun Class 1 have already completed their first week at school! The children have had lots of fun!
My Class 1 Adventure Our topic for this half term is 'My Class 1 Adventure.' This will focus around the children embarking on a new school adventure and will include a few visitors and surprises along the way! Have a look at our topic web to see what we will be doing in more detail.
Meet the class 1 buddies! The year 6 children have been helping and supporting the new class 1 children to settle into school life. Each child has a buddy to play with!
Welcome to Class 1 A warm welcome to our new Reception cohort for 2017! Hello to Connor, Joseph, Ethan, Jude, Louis, Ben, Archie,Tyler, Jessica, Matilda, Alessa, Isobel, Charlotte, Rose and Sky! The children are having lots of fun getting to know the classroom and exploring all the areas of continuous provision.
Beach Party Class 1 have finished off a wonderful year in reception by dressing up in beach clothes! Have a fantastic summer class 1. We will see you in year 1 in September!
Fun at the Monkey Forest Class 1 have had a fantastic trip to the Monkey Forest in Trentham. The children enjoyed wandering around the forest and spotting some of the 140 Barbary Macaques! The children were very independent and chose a souvenir from the shop, paying all by themselves! It was a great trip!
Little Beauty Class 1 have been looking at the story Little Beauty by Anthony Browne. The story revolves around friendship. The children have been thinking about their special friendships in class and writing about their special friend.
Natural Art Class 1 have been working with class 2 outside to create some art work using natural materials. The children created their own faces and have displayed them on the bank in the playground. They look fantastic!
Athletics at Helsby High School Class 1 went with Class 2 to take part in an athletics competition at Helsby high. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of activities from egg and spoon to the hurdles race! A big thank you to all the children and staff that helped organise this fantastic event.
Planting a Tin Forest The children have been weeding and planting in the flowerbed. They are hoping to create their own Tin Forest. The children are looking forward to decorating the flowerbed with their fantasy creatures, all of which link to the story of The Tin Forest. Watch this space!
The Holy Spirit
Class 1 have been thinking about The Holy Spirit. They have been likening it to the wind. You can't see the wind but you can see the effects it has. The children created their own windy toy using ribbon tied on a stick. Lots of the children were able to tie the knot by themselves! They went outside and felt the winds presence. It was lots of fun and the children are intrigued to learn more about The Holy Spirit and Pentecost.
Exploring a world with no colour
Class 1 have received a letter from a mysterious old man. He explained to the children that he lived in a sad colourless world. The children decided to explore what it would be like. They created masks and used dark cellophane to cover the eye holes. The children went outside under the trees and were shocked with the new colourless world they saw. It is safe to say that the children realised how lucky they were to live in such a colourful world!
This half term class 1 are taking part in a whole school topic based on the book 'The Tin Forest' by Helen Ward. Have a look at our topic map to see what we will be doing.
Class 1 were treated to a visit from the Chester Zoo education team. They learnt lots of interesting facts about mini beasts. Have a look at some of the children's writing explaining what they found out!
Class 1 have been designing and creating a chicken run to entertain our baby chicks. The children used the junk modelling for their creations. The chickens definitely had fun!
Class 1 have been caring for some baby chicks. Meet Custard, Ice cream and Rio! The children are enjoying learning all about the chicks and of course cuddling them!
This half term our Christian value is Friendship. The children have created their own friendship tree in the outdoor area. The children will write the name of someone who has been a friend to them on a leaf and display it on the friendship tree.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Class 1 have been looking at the well known story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.' The children were so familiar with the story that they created their own masks and acted out parts of the story. The children decided their performance should be recorded. Some of the children used the ipad to film the story. Check out the video!
Summer term fun
This half term the children have chosen to focus on mini beasts and living things. We have called this topic 'I am alive.' Have a look at our topic letter to see what we will be doing.
Fun with the Circus
The children were treated to a circus workshop. This explored diversity as part of respect week at school. The children had so much fun!
Class 1 have designed and created their very own odd eggs. They look spectacular!
Tom the crocodile
The children have been writing to the crocodile to find out what he wants from them. The crocodile replied and asked the children to write their own crocodile story! The children created some amazing adventure stories and the crocodile definitely enjoyed reading them. The children came to school to find him reading one of the stories in his tank! Here is Henri's story we hope you like it!
Class 1 have had so much fun with Charlie from Hartford School of Gymnastics. They spent a full term being taught gymnastics skills. The children performed what they had learnt to the rest of the school.
A trip to Stockley Farm
Class 1 had a fantastic visit to Stockley Farm. The children had a wonderful time bottle feeding lambs, feeding cows, brushing rabbits and a tractor ride. The children learnt lots of new information about farm animals!
We're going on a crocodile hunt!
The mysterious egg has finally hatched and it was a magical crocodile! The crocodile has gone missing in the pond area so the children set off to catch it!
Prayer day 2017
The children had a wonderful time at the Methodist church with Andrea and Rob. They explored and discovered stories from the bible explaining some of the miracles Jesus had performed. The children enjoyed learning about how Jesus turned water into wine over a drink of juice and a biscuit. They also enjoyed a prayer walk using a variety of different textures. The children were keen to take off their shoes and try this out! Thank you to the church for this wonderful afternoon!
Birds of Prey
The children were treated to a visit from The Welsh Birds of Prey. They saw a variety of birds from an owl to a kestrel. Some of the children in class 1 volunteered to hold Storm!
Windy day fun
What great fun class 1 had with the parachute today! The children enjoyed using their physical skills to lift and shake the parachute. The children also discussed how the wind was helping them to lift the parachute!
A Mysterious egg
Class 1 have found a mysterious egg in the flowerbed. The children used their positional language skills to lead them from the classroom to where the egg was hiding. There has been lots of speculation as to what is inside the egg! The children thought it could be a chicken, duck, crocodile and even a turtle. This led to lots of investigation on what animals lay eggs.
World Book Day 2017
Class 1 had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day! The children dressed up as an array of characters from their favourite books. They recreated the cover of their favourite books and shared these books with their friends.
A fun day with the poet Paul Delaney
As part of World Book Week Paul Delaney came into school to work with all the children. Class 1 have had so much fun looking at poetry. The children have been performing one of Paul's poems 'Just Pretend.' They enjoyed creating sounds to go with the poem and helped Paul to create a similar poem as class.
Down on the Farm
Our topic for this half term is 'Down on the Farm.' This has come from the children's fascination of animals and birds. This topic will lead into Easter, focusing on new life, changes and Spring. Have a look at some of the things we will be doing!
Class 1 have been looking at how to stay safe online. The children read the story of Smartie the penguin and made decisions on how he would be able to be safe when using the ipad. Smartie taught the children a song. The children made a penguin mask and recorded the song!
Chinese New Year
Class 1 enjoyed learning all about Chinese New Year and how each child was born in the year of a particular animal. The children found out that they were born in the year of the dragon or the rabbit! The children had a go at making Chinese lanterns, Chinese writing and sorting coins in to lucky red envelopes.
Class 1 Big Bird Watch
Class 1 took part in the RSPB bird watching event. The children went out into the school grounds and pond area. The children were armed with binoculars and tally charts, managing to spot 8 blackbirds, 1 crow, 1 magpie and 5 sparrows. They also heard a cockerel in the distance.
Jack and the Giant
The beanstalk in class 1 has continued to grow! The children have befriended a very cross giant. The giant explained to the children that a boy called Jack has been stealing the giant's belonging including his gold coins! The children set off to work making wanted posters and traps to catch Jack!
A Magical Beanstalk
Class 1 arrived back to school after Christmas to find a magical beanstalk growing in their classroom. The children were very excited to find out more about the beanstalk and how it is growing so fast!
Christmas Jumper Day
Class 1 helped to raise money for Save the Children charity by wearing their Christmas jumpers to school. The children look fantastic and have enjoyed supporting a good cause.
Nativity play 2016
Class 1 put on a wonderful nativity play and enjoyed performing in front of family and friends.
Phoning Santa Claus
The children have been exploring technology and using the ipad to locate the North Pole. They have also been developing their speaking and listening skills by phoning santa on the ipad. This was very exciting and the children were very interested to ask santa lots of questions.
Elvis the kindness elf!
Class 1 arrived into school to find a note from an elf! Elvis is a kindness elf sent from santa claus to keep an eye on the children over the festive period. He can't be seen as he is only as big as a piece of magic dust. The children have a mission to spread kindness throughout the classroom and make Elvis happy. There has been lots of acts of kindness since Elvis arrived in class 1! The children have been recroding their acts of kindness in a book.
Light a lamp for Diwali
Class 1 have been looking at Diwali and discussing the similarities and differences of the festival. The children used clay to create their own diva lamps. They look fantastic!
What's the time Mr Wolf
Class 1 have been thinking about Diwali and linked this to light and dark. The children have been thinking about times of day we do things and made their own clocks. The children have been learning to tell o'clock times. They had lots of fun using their clocks to play what's the time Mr wolf!
Let us remember
The children have been thinking about Remembrance day and discussing the importance of this. The children took part in the 2 minute silence. They have been looking at the poppy and created their own interpretation of it. The poppies look fantastic!
This half term is the run up to Christmas and has so many festivals and events to remember and celebrate. We have lots of children with birthdays too. Class 1 decided our topic should link in all of these celebrations! So far we have looked at Bonfire night and Diwali. There is lots more to come!
Class 1 came into school and couldn't find supertato anywhere. He left them a note to explain he was waiting for them to come to the hall and complete some superhero training. He was found in the PE store cupboard armed with lots of training activities for the children to complete! Class 1 had a fantastic time balancing, jumping and creating movements just like superheroes.
Supertato and the evil peas!
Class 1 came into find the classroom invaded by evil peas and they had stolen supertato! They knew what they had to do! The children each designed and made their own super vegetable to fight the evil peas. The children gave them names and even created their own stories about the vegetables!
A visit from the Fire Brigade
Class 1 were very lucky to meet some real life superheroes! The children had a wonderful time and learnt lots of important messages to take home and share with their families.
We're going on a bear hunt at Norley School
A big thank you to all the children and parents who joined us in class 1 for our bear hunt yesterday. It was lovely to see lots of faces old and new! We look forward to seeing you again soon
Tatton Park 29/9/16
Class 1 went on a school trip to Tatton Park with class 2 to visit the Roald Dahl themed activities. The children went on an adventure to catch the Enormous Crocodile and found Fantastic Mr Fox on the farm along with lots of other animals! All of the children had lots of fun!
Class 1 have had a very special visitor called Supertato. He is a superhero potato and has lots of jobs for class 1. The children have started off by making him dens so he has somewhere to sleep in the classroom. We hope you like the dens!
Roald Dahl Day 13th September 2016
Class 1 have only been in school for a week and already they have been dressing up for Roald Dahl day. The children are focusing on the BFG this week and have been up to lots of things including making dream catchers, measuring giants and exploring instruments that make sounds similar to the BFG's horn!
Class 1 2016/17
A very warm welcome to our new starters in reception this school year! Hello to Amalie, Freya, Bay, Natalia, Jessica, Dru, Cameron, Henri, Ryan, Josh, Finlay, Charlie, Olly and Oliver! We hope you are ready for an exciting year ahead!
KS1 and Reception Athletics competition
On Tuesday 5th July class 1 and 2 took part in an athletics competition at Helsby high school. The children were given a fantastic opportunity to take part in lots of different games and sporting events such as hurdles, ruby relays and much more. It was a brilliant morning and the children had so much fun! A big thank you to all those involved.
Discovery Week! Class 1 have been taking part in a week for of exciting workshops and experiments. Here are some of the things they have been involved in so far:
Pond dipping This was very successful with the children finding Frogs, Water Boatmen and Newts! Lego The children have also been very lucky to receive a visit from Lego which gave the children opportunity to create their own Lego houses and gardens. They did a fantastic job and a whole village was created by the end of the session!
Dance The children created a series of movement and balances and put it all together into a sequence!
Electricity The children have been learning all about electricity with the help of Fiddlers Ferry. The children used lots of drama to help them understand the processes.
The children are now looking forward to a visit from Chester Zoo!
Animals! Class 1 have decided that their summer topic will be animals. This has stemmed from their interest in Chester zoo and the animals that live there. Watch this space to see what exciting things we will be doing! (Don't forget you can click on the photos to enlarge them)
Butterfly Life Cycle
Class 1 have been looking after some caterpillars and watching their journey into Butterflies. The butterflies were fed for 3 days on lots of fruit and tomatoes. It was then time to release them into the wild!
Class 1 have been busy designing and creating their very fairies. They have used their fine manipulative skills to paint and sew the fairies. They are fantastic!
A very tiny visitor
Class 1 have been finding lots of tiny notes in the classroom. They followed a map using their positional language skills and found a tiny crown! Who could it be? What do they want?
A Very Special Door
Class 1 have now found a tiny door small enough to fit a fairy or elf in! The children were left a note to explain it was the king of the tiny things and he needed some help! The children have written back to the king to ask how they can be of service. They are awaiting a response!
The Enchanted Forest Our new topic chosen by the children's interest in fairies, elves, mini beast and mythical creatures is 'The Enchanted Forest.' Have a look at our termly letter to see what we will be doing!
Prayer day 1st March 2016
Class 1 went up to the local Methodist church to take part in a prayer day based around the theme 'Love Thy Neighbour'. The children took part in lots of thought provoking and reflective activities. Their favourite was making hot chocolate then giving this to a family member or friend as a kind deed for the day!
Around the World!
Class 1 have chosen a new topic for the spring half term leading to Easter. It is based on around the world to capture all of the childrens' differing interests. Have a look at what we will be getting up to! [Click on the images to see in more detail]
A visit from the author 'Dunkle Deed'
As part of World Book day class 1 were visited by the author Dunkle Deed. He has currently written 3 books about animals that get up to mischief! Class 1 thoroughly enjoyed a story telling session with Dunkle Deed and they were able to think of alternative endings for his story 'Morkee'
Chinese New Year 2016 The year of the monkey
The children have been celebrating Chinese New Year by thinking about the animals in the Zodiac calendar. The children used their birth dates to work out which animal year they were born in. They then created some transient art using natural materials to represent their interpretation of this. They have done a fantastic job!
Sea Life Centre Manchester
Class 1 have been on a trip to the Sea Life Centre in Manchester. They had a brilliant time looking and learning all about our ocean creatures. They also met a sea turtle named Ernie and watched him eating his lunch. Have a look at our video clip of him!
It started with a fish!
Class 1 have been working really hard to create their own magical sea creatures inspired by 'Barry the fish with fingers' by Sue Hendra.
They have designed and made some fantastic creatures and have even written stories about them. The children thought about an instrument that makes the sound of their creature and recorded their stories using these instrument as backing music.
Class 1 have a pet fish!
Class 1 have got a pet goldfish named Goldilocks. She lives in her tank on the investigation area. The children are having lots of fun reading and writing notes to the fish!
Under the Sea! Spring term
Class 1 have chosen to focus on under the sea this term. We have lots of fun activities lined up! Have a look at our topic web and letter to see what we are getting up to.
A Visit from Father Christmas
Class 1 had a very special visitor after their Christmas dinner. It was Father Christmas and his elf helper. The children were very excited and made sure they told him what they would like for Christmas!
Class 1 have been getting into the Christmas spirit by looking at the story of 'The Jolly Postman.' The children have been thinking about the characters that the postman delivers to. This week they have been looking at the gingerbread man and designing him a home. The children chose their favourite design and a class created their very own gingerbread house! It looks delicious!
A Very Important Letter!
Class 1 received a very important letter from Buckingham Palace today! It was a lovely response from our portraits that we sent to the Palace during The Queen's Celebrations back in September. The children were delighted with their letter.
Diwali Class 1 have been looking at Diwali as part of their Celebrations topic. They have been busy making Rangoli Patterns using their knowledge of 3d shape.
Come and Join the Celebrations!
Class 1 have chosen the topic celebrations for the autumn half term leading up to christmas. They have been thinking about bonfire night and the Guy Fawkes gunpowder plot. The children wondered what would have happened if Guy Fawkes really did blow up the houses of parliment, so they created their own explosion! The children experimented using diet coke and mentos. As you can see they made a big bang!
The children then recreated this explosion in the form of splatter paintings. They look fabulous!
Is there room on a broom?
Class 1 have been looking at the story 'Room on a Broom' by Julia Donaldson and have been busy creating their own broomsticks with magic words to make them fly.

Giant African Land Snails
Class 1 have been looking after 2 giant African land snails. They have done a fantastic job of caring for the snails and have enjoyed holding them too!
Class 1 are having a busy term so far! Our whole school topic is 'Where my Wellies take me.'
The children have been thinking about the natural environment and have planted some wonderful flowers and herbs in our old tyres!
They are excited to see the changes as they grow.
Milk Bottle Igloo
As part of our Polar Explorers topic, the children have created a giant milk bottle igloo made from used plastic bottles. It was great fun to make and even more fun to play in!
Thank you to everyone in the local community who have contributed their used milk bottles. We have over 250 bottles on the igloo.
World Book Day 2015
Class 1 celebrated World Book Day with a visit from the author Deborah Elias. The children participated in an interactive workshop and created their own pog characters from the story. We hope you like them!
The Gruffalo Trail 12.2.15
Class one went to Delamere Forest in search of the Gruffalo! The children had lots of fun exploring the dens and the hidden animals in the forest. The children were able to read lots of tricky captions on the maps and signs.
Our topic for the second half of the spring term is based around the childrens interest of Frozen, snow and ice. We already have our frozen ice palace up and running in the role play area!

Down in the Deep Dark Woods!
This will be our topic for the spring half term, based on the children's fascination with Julia Donaldson's mythical creatures such as The Gruffalo.

School trip to see Father Christmas
Class 1 have been on their first school trip to Blakemere Craft Centre. Whilst there, they made reindeer food to sprinkle on their garden at Christmas, painted a decoration for their tree and saw Father Christmas himself. They even got a small gift!
A great morning was had by all.
Above and Below the Ocean Waves
The children have decided that our next topic will be based on the sea. Watch this space to see what we get up to!
Real Life Superheroes We have been lucky to have a visit from 2 real life superheroes a Nurse and the Firemen! It was very interesting for the children to learn all about their role and how they help people every day. The Nurse brought lots of special equipment for us to explore and the firemen let us go in their fire engine!
Me and My Special Powers This half term we have had lots of fun looking at Superheroes and our own special powers. We have had a visit from Traction Man. Every day he would be in a different part of the classroom. It was lots of fun finding him. We recorded his adventures in our own traction man books.
Welcome to Class 1
A warm welcome to the 16 new children who have started in Class 1. They are settling in well and having lots of fun exploring all the new areas both inside and out of the classroom.
Me and My Special Powers
Class 1 have chosen their topic for this half term - Superheroes! We will be thinking about Ourselves and what special powers we have. Have a look at our plans to see what we will be getting up to.
Trip to Castle Park
Class 1 and Class 2 went on a trip together to Castle Park in Frodsham. They had the opportunity to complete lots of fun outdoor activities and as a extra special treat they got time to play on the park! It was a fantastic morning had by all!
Class 1 have been looking at lifecycles and have been lucky enough to hatch some caterpillars and watch them change as they turn into butterflies.
We were very sad to let them go. One of the butterflies didn't want to leave us and Phoebe went out to play hours later and it was still in the same place where it was released!
Class 1 had a surprise waiting for them when they got back to school after half term. A giant pirate flag and a letter from Captain Redbeard. Captain Redbeard set class 1 a challenge! Every day there were clues to solve to help find Redbeard's treasure! It was no easy ride, Redbeard sent lots of trick clues that led us nowhere. In the end Class 1 had to write a persuasive letter to beg for the treasure.
Class 1 were so excited with their pirate flag that they are starting to design their own. Watch out for the finished product!
We have been very lucky to have 3 visits with the pre school children due to start in Class 1 in September. They had lots of fun getting messy and exploring the classroom. We are looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
